Course Overview
This short course introduces the fundamental principles underpinning criminology, fraud and organisational crime. The course covers essential concepts used to understand, detect, investigate and prevent fraud. Learners will gain a general overview of fraud as an organisational crime from a criminological perspective. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises and case studies.
Course Objectives
The course is designed to;
- Equip learners with fundamentals of fraud and organisational crime from criminological perspectives.
- Provide learners with professional skills to apply criminological and psychological knowledge in fraud detection and investigation.
- Develop appropriate analytical techniques for detecting and investigating fraud and organisational crimes.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, students are expected to be able to:
- Apply the knowledge, and insights in criminology to understand, detect and investigate fraud and associated organisational crimes.
- Analyze the uneasy and difficult alliance of fraud as a wider organisational crime.
- Develop the ability to appropriately assign liability for fraud and corporate organisational crime.
- Explore further areas of interest in criminology, fraud and organisational crime.
Duration: Self-paced (8 Weeks)
Whereas this course is self-paced, it is estimated that learners should complete the course within 8 weeks by completing an assignment and attempting a multiple choice exit exercise.
- Assignment constitutes 40% of the final grade and MUST be submitted to be eligible to sit the exit exam.
- The Exit Exam constitutes 60% of the final grade.
Award: Upon successfully completing the assignment and multiple choice questions, students who achieve an overall grade of 75% will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion.
